PowerG: The IQ Panel 2 Plus includes PowerG, the revolutionary 2-way wireless communication technology with an unprecedented line-up of features designed to decrease operational costs for dealers while providing ultimate reliability for end users. Multichannel, Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology enables the system to hop between wireless frequency channels to ensure the seamless transmission of secure communications between the devices and the control panel. Adaptive Transmission Power translates into up to eight years of battery life for the system’s devices and peripherals, reducing battery-replacement incurred costs. High transmission ranges allow for devices to reliably communicate 4 times further than legacy wireless protocols, reducing the cost of installing additional repeaters to service larger premises. 128 bit AES encryption offers exceptionally high level of protection against analysis tools and digital attacks.

Front Camera: The IQ Panel comes with a built-in front camera that captures photos in a variety of situations. When the panel is disarmed manually, the camera takes a photograph and saves it in the “ARM/DISARM” section. These photos are accompanied by the username of the individual who’s code was used, the date, and the time. When someone attempts to access your panel settings with an invalid code, the camera takes a photograph and saves it in the “SETTINGS” section. These photos are accompanied by the date and time. When the alarm is triggered, the camera takes a photograph and saves it in the “ALARMS” section. When the alarm is triggered, the camera will record up to a 4 minute video clip. This video is stored locally on the panel only. Using a Micro SD Card you can select individual photos or videos and save them on it.

Light Control: You can add up to 80 Z-Wave lights, lamp modules, or lightbulbs to the IQ Panel 2 Plus panel. This will allow you to control your lights (e.g. turn on/off, adjust the dimmer) locally on the panel and also from your Alarm.com mobile app.

The already fast and intuitive installation process is made even easier ensuring every install is consistent and follows best practices, resulting in a better install experience and reduced installation times and long-term support. The new user-friendly wizard will also further simplify DIY self-installations.

Partitions: The panel allows for up to 4 partitions to be programmed. Partitions allow for the creation of zone groups in a home or business so that users can arm some sections of the property while leaving others disarmed. Partitioning enables greater personalization and functionality while simplifying installation. Each partition controls its local zone status, alerts and notifications. Any area or zone that needs to be armed or disarmed separately from the rest of the structure can be turned into a partition.

Photo Frame: When your IQ Panel 2 Plus is not in use you can program the panel to turn into a customizable photo frame. Inside the panel’s settings you can choose whether you want photos or a weather clock or if you want the panel to turn itself off automatically in the evenings, and more.

Schedule Scenes: Allows you to control multiple devices with the click of a single button right from your IQ Panel 2 Plus touchscreen (Powered by Alarm.com). Each option is a multi-device command that coordinates different smart devices to accomplish a complete task.

The check in and check out feature notifies you when assisted living caregivers arrive and leave so that you have the peace of mind knowing that your loved one is getting the care they need and deserve.

NextAlarm is Cancelling Monitoring Services via Ethernet/Internet Path

If you are currently a monitored NextAlarm customer with IP service and wish to continue alarm monitoring services we recommend going with the M2M wireless alarm communicator as an alternative as it will be hosted on either the AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile LTE cellular towers.

The M2M alarm communicator itself is only around $70 and holds a no-term contract monthly alarm monitoring rate of $13/month. With the M2M wireless alarm communicator, GeoArm can apply this to just about any alarm system that has been used with NextAlarm.

Cellular alarm communicators are a much more reliable means of communicating alarm signals from your alarm system back to the central alarm monitoring station.

The reason why is if an intruder before breaking in cuts your power meter box or internet lines, your alarm system will still be able to transmit signals to the receivers unlike the internet “aka IP” communications.

The M2M wireless alarm communicator is amazing for anyone looking to have very inexpensive alarm monitoring services for both home and business security.

It has come to our attention from callers that after many years of providing alarm monitoring service via the internet, NextAlarm will be canceling this service.

The last day they will provide alarm signal delivery via the internet will be June 30, 2020. They also stated that if you have pre-paid for service that extends past June 30, 2020, NextAlarm must be notified by May 29, 2020, and they will arrange for a refund of any months after June 2020.

NextAlarm in their email to customers didn’t clearly state their intentions with current cellular-based customers, but have no fear because GeoArm is here.

If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

Alarm.com Announces it will still support GE Interlogix!

As you all know United Technologies announced that Interlogix after all these years is closing their doors at the end of 2019. Alarm.com a few days later sent us a confirmation email that they would still provide Alarm.com compatible communications devices for monitoring abilities. In addition, Alarm.com announced it will continue to support the product lines for dealer tech support.

This is big news for anyone who has an Interlogix such as a Concord, NX Series or Simon security system. This news confirms that the Interlogix systems life span has been extended at least up until LTE cellular modules are phased out. After LTE cellular communicators are phased out well down the line we are not sure what will happen from there or what communication modules will support the monitoring of Interlogix!

What we do know is that end-users that have Interlogix will still be able to enjoy Alarm.com monitoring services, remote app control with the Alarm.com interactive app, Z-Wave home automation control, Amazon Alexa / Google Home / Apple Siri voice control and Alarm.com compatible IP security camera abilities for quite some time.

Here is an example email that Alarm.com is sending to its dealer’s.

United Technologies recently announced that they are winding down their Interlogix security business in the U.S. and Canada, but they will continue to manufacture and sell through the end of the year.

Alarm.com will continue to support all Interlogix panels currently installed, as well as all new installations going forward. Our services will continue to work seamlessly on the lineup of Interlogix panels we support, now and into the future. Also, we will continue to manufacture Interlogix LTE upgrade modules.

Interlogix is Going out of Business :(

Interlogix, which is a division of UTC Climate, Controls & Security is shutting down its businesses in the USA and Canada by the end of 2019. Interlogix Manufactures popular systems such as Concord, NX Series & Simon series systems.

What does this mean exactly? This means that after 2019 is over Interlogix will no longer manufacture any products. Security products that have already been sold to distributors will remain for sale until the stocks are depleted.

Interlogix’s tech support will remain open as long as there are products that fall under Interlogix’s warranty guidelines. Interlogix stated that their warranty extends to about 3 years. If this holds true that would mean Interlogix tech support could remain open until the end of 2022. After that point, if there are any issues that a dealer can’t solve by themselves there will be no one to turn to for support.

If anyone ever needs assistance with Interlogix security systems moving forward please make sure to contact us at 877-443-6276. We pride ourselves on being one of the top providers of tech support and monitoring services for these systems.

Below is an example of the letter Interlogix is providing to its Distributors.

Dear Valued Interlogix Customer:

Following a thorough review of our security portfolio, we have decided to wind down the Interlogix U.S. and Canada businesses in order to focus on growth opportunities in our other fire and security businesses.

While we may be winding down Interlogix, we are committed to ensuring that our dealers have the products necessary to support their business during this transition.

Interlogix expects to manufacture and sell products through the end of 2019. We will continue to provide customer service in the areas of technical support, product fulfillment, and warranty obligations as prescribed in our warranty policies. Our dealers will be able to purchase, install, register, and service our products with the complete confidence that we will stand behind you through 2020 and beyond.

We are working closely with our distributors to ensure that you have the product necessary for your customers during this transition period. Given our significant installed base, we anticipate increased demand at this time and will build and fulfill orders in the order in which they are received.

We value the relationship we have built with you over the years and will continue to communicate with you regularly throughout the wind-down process.

Interlogix it was a pleasure working with all of the products you acquired, maintained and developed over the years such as the Concord, NX Series and Simon security systems.

Honeywell LKP500-EN Alarm Keypad Review

The Honeywell Lyric Secondary keypad (LKP500-EN) is small in size, which makes it perfect for mounting in those hard-to-fit places. The sleek and stylish product design, allows the keypad to blend into any decor. The installation of the keypad is easy with choices of either wall-mounting or optionally using a Lyric Desk stand kit (LKP500-DK) which is great if you are planning on DIY installing on tabletops, nightstands or kitchen counter. A big benefit of the Lyric Secondary Keypad is its range. Previous 5828/5828v keypads could not be placed further than 50 feet while LKP500-EN has a listed wireless range of 300ft!

The LKP500-EN is the Honeywell wireless secondary keypad that works with systems that work with SiX Series encrypted technology such as the Honeywell Lyric Controller. The Lyric Keypad takes advantage of the 2.4ghz channel which offers full 128-bit encryption to prevent intruders from jamming the RF signals. With the LKP500-EN you also get a keypad that is fully supervised. This means that the Lyric Keypad sends signals back to the alarm control panel every 60 seconds making sure it is still within range. If the Lyric Controller does not receive this signal a supervision loss signal will be sent to our professional alarm monitoring station and if you have Total Connect Services activated with AlarmClub/GeoArm you will receive text and email notifications to your smartphone.

The Lyric Keypad allows you quickly arm/disarm the Honeywell Lyric Security System as well as listen to system status updates with its built-in speaker. One of the greatest benefits of the Lyric LKP500-EN keypad is its panic button features for police, fire, and medical purposes. The Lyric Controller will allow up to 8 LKP500-EN to be programmed at any given time. We recommend adding multiple LKP500-EN wireless Lyric Keypads spread out by the most frequently entered and exited locations such as front doors, garage doors, and master bedrooms.

With the Honeywell LKP500-EN you will have access to its own settings menu where you can adjust features such as turn chime on and off, toggle exit tone/entry tone, voice volume, key level, display brightness, and backlight brightness. To access this area of Lyric Keypad settings simply press and hold select key until menu begins, use the scroll key to the settings, use the select key to choose from desired menu item, use the scroll key to toggle menu options, press select key to save your settings and press cancel at any time to exit Lyric Keypad settings menu. When firmware updates are available for this product you can upgrade the software by manually or remotely by AlarmClub/GeoArm. To upgrade the Lyric LKP500-EN software locally go to the Lyric Controller programming menu select security, tools, enter the master code by default which is 1234, advanced, upgrade sensor firmware. After performing the upgrade command, the keypad displays the upgrade status then, when done, automatically resets twice. Once the Lyric Keypad completes the reset, it will return to normal operation.

Programming the Honeywell LKP500-EN secondary keypad is accomplished through the Lyric Controller installer programming menu. To access this area of programming on the controller you must have your installer code. The Lyric Controller Installer code is 4112. Once you access the installer menu select Program. This area of the Lyric control panel programming is the same area that you would program a Honeywell SiXCT door/window contact, Honeywell SiXPIR motion sensor, Honeywell SiXGB, or a Honeywell SiXSIREN although the programming tactics would vary from device to device.

The Honeywell LKP500-EN product includes:

• Battery pack (7.2VDC) provides 24-hour backup battery power (Included)

• An external 110VAC input/9VDC output power pack and cable (Included)

Honeywell SiXPIR Motion Detector Review

The Honeywell Lyric SiXPIR is an encrypted wireless motion sensor with mounting hardware and is intended for use with the Lyric Controller and systems that support’s SiX™ series sensors. The Lyric SiXPIR can be programmed and enrolled into the Honeywell Lyric Controller in a very quickly. Once enrolled, the Lyric SiXPIR sensor cannot be used with another security system until it is removed from the current controller because of its Lyric Lock feature. Each SiXPIR has a unique MAC number located on the sticker on the unit.

The Lyric SiXPIR has a 300-foot transmission range which is around 100 feet more than the previous 5800PIR so now you can place your motion sensor in those far away extra bedrooms from the Lyric Controller. SiXPIR has moved to a 2.4ghz operating frequency which provides you with a 128 bit fully encrypted signal to prevent intruders from jamming the RF signals. The Lyric SiXPIR has expanded its detection with a 40 foot x 56-foot detection pattern which has been designed to protect every size room. The SiXPIR has front and back tamper protection, to prevent anyone from tampering with the enclosure. There are LED indicators on the motion sensor for visual sensor notifications. If you have Total Connect services activated, you can also receive text and email notification anytime this occurs.

The Lyric Motion comes with a Panasonic CR12A Lithium battery that can last for 5 years with normal use. Once the Panasonic battery that comes with the SiXPIR has died you can replace it with One 3V lithium battery. Duracell DL123 and Duracell DL123a, Panasonic CR123A, Honeywell 466.

When installing a Honeywell SiXPIR motion sensor there are a few guidelines you should follow and look at if you are troubleshooting. The Lyric Motion sensor should be installed at a mounting height of 7’6″ either wall or corner mounted and allow a clear line-of-sight to all areas protected. Do not directly face a Lyric SiXPIR towards a window as traffic, window shades, or animals outside can set the motion detector off a cause false alarms. Avoid mounting a SixPIR in close proximity to moving machinery, fluorescent lights, and heating/cooling sources. Lastly, the Lyric SiXPIR is for use with pets no greater than 80lbs. In applications with pets mount the SiXPIR sensor with the center at 7.5 feet and where pets can’t come within 6 feet by climbing on furniture, stairs, or boxes. Before your permanently install a SiXPIR make sure that you run a Go/No Go test and determine if the pet immunity will work with your circumstance.

If possible it is always recommended to have at least one Honeywell SiXPIR motion sensor but, if you can’t use this there are other great options that will help solidify your home or business security system. Try to protect all of your door/windows by using one of the Honeywell SiXCT door/window contacts in the event an intruder opens an entry point and separates the magnet from the contact causing the Lyric Controller alarm to go off. Having door/window contacts is usually the most common method of security but, what if someone breaks into your location by breaking your glass door or window? If this is the case, we always recommend backing up your Lyric SiXCT contacts with a Honeywell SiXGB. The Lyric SiXGB works by detecting all UL listed glass break frequencies and sends the signal directly to the Lyric Controller as an alarm signal. A good combination of these devices will set your house apart from other homes especially when you have AlarmClub’s Alarm Monitoring Service that comes with Signs & Stickers as a deterrent.

Honeywell SiXSMOKE Smoke Detector Review

The Honeywell Lyric SiXSMOKE has finally been released and is available for shipping within the USA and Canada. The SiXSMOKE was announced at the same time as all of the other SiX Series sensors and where available for ordering but, these sensors were delayed for a few months. The Lyric smoke detector is compatible with the Honeywell Lyric Controller and other systems that can utilize SiX sensor. Once the SiXSMOKE is enrolled into the panel, it cannot be used with another control panel until it has been deleted first because of the Lyric Lock feature. Each Lyric smoke detector has a unique MAC number located on the sticker on the unit.

The wireless SiXSMOKE has a maximum coverage area of 50′ X 50′ and detects smoke/heat in two ways Fixed =135° F Heat Sensing and Rate-of-Rise Sensing of =15° F within 1 minute. One of the coolest features of the Lyric SiXSMOKE, when paired with a Lyric Controller is the fact that if you have more than one detector you can set up the One Go All Go feature which will activate all SiXSMOKE’s if one is triggered. You can place the Lyric SiXSMOKE within 300 feet of the alarm control panel which allows you to install in those back areas. The SiXSMOKE works on a a Direct Sequence, Spread Spectrum (DSSS), two-way radio utilizing the 2.4GHz RF band. In the 2.4GHz band, there are 16 channels available for SiX™. When the device registers with the control panel, it will automatically determine which frequency channel the panel is operating on.

When the SiXSMOKE photoelectric beam detects the presence of smoke, it will go into alarm and send the alarm signal to the Lyric Controller. The Lyric SiXSMOKE works best when you have professional alarm monitoring for your Lyric Security System. Once our central alarm monitoring station receives these signals we can dispatch the exact fire department for your area. During an alarm condition, pressing the detectors test switch will silence the piezoelectric horn for 5 minutes. When programmed in one-go-all-go mode, the detector can only be silenced from the controller. When the battery of the Lyric SiXSMOKE is no longer working you will need to replace it with One 3V lithium battery. Duracell DL123 and DL123A, Panasonic CR123A, Honeywell 466. Remove batteries for at least 10 seconds, before installing new ones.

Note: Do not mix old and new batteries, battery types or manufacturers.
